The call to move to Colorado

The call began years ago when Nick and I got married. That Fall we moved to Colorado Springs to begin a two year program at Colorado Bible College (now called Charis Bible College). With a new future in front of us, we thought this would be the perfect way for us to get involved in ministry. School was amazing and we met many like-minded people. Our time was cut short when we became pregnant and decided to move back home to MN to be close to our parents. It was hard to leave but resulted in the six children we have today. We have been blessed by God!
When we left Colorado so many years ago, we were unsure if we would ever return. Throughout the years, Nick and I became settled at home in Coon Rapids, MN. Raising our kids, we enjoyed life and became rooted in our community.  I had discovered my calling to be a principal; leading me down a road to teach first for several years, then administrate. Now that I have my license and am a teacher, I feel like I am on course with God's plan for my life.

Nick on the other hand, is like Gideon in the book of Judges. Gideon hid in a cave out of bondage and fear. Nick will admit he was hiding too. He likes being comfortable and staying in familiar territory. We live down the street from his parents, if that tells you anything at all. However, like Gideon, God is calling Nick to step out of the cave. I know, Nick knows, anyone who talks to Nick knows, he is meant to preach!
God came and said, “Gideon, you’re a mighty man of God.” And Gideon said, “Who? Me?”

God is saying those same words to Nick. It is time for Nick to fulfill his purpose in life. Praise God Nick is saying YES to the call and is bravely stepping out in faith. In so doing, Nick feels strongly about returning to Charis Bible College and completing the work God began back in 1999. It is a great stepping stone for where God will lead Nick in accomplishing his plan for his life.

I found this article called, "Get Out of the Cave in 2012." Here is a small section of it.

"In life,  there are SO many distractions that will try to keep you from fulfilling your God-given purpose. You see, the enemy knows the potential that resides on the inside of you and he will do anything he can to keep you in FEAR of stepping out into something greater. But you must WAKE UP and realize you have been brought into the Kingdom for “such a time as this”. God has a PURPOSE, an assignment, for you to fulfill. IT IS TIME to get out of your cave and be a light in this world."- Olga Hermans

I love this! It is so true and speaks to everything we feel about moving out to Colorado. I believe in what God is doing in Nick's heart and that is why I am fully supporting this move.

Do I feel like we are jumping off a 50 ft cliff into the great abyss? YES!
Do I feel like we are crazy for uprooting our family- and the lives of our 6 kids? YES!
Do I think its nuts to move without a job or home in place? YES!

BUT

I also feel like God has His hand over our family.
I feel like we have a good history of hearing the voice of the Lord.
And finally, I feel a PEACE that surpasses ALL understanding.

I am excited friends. Am I naive to believe this move won't be difficult at times? Absolutely not. But I do know that through this all, God promises to never leave us or forsake us.

This whole last week I have had these classic Steven Curtis Chapman lyrics in my head.

Saddle up your horses, we've got a trail to blaze
Through the wild blue yonder of God's amazing grace
Let's follow our leader into the glorious unknown
This is a life like no other - this is The Great Adventure!
